These little boys are 14 week old shih tzu chi mix puppies. They are sweet and very playful. Puppy pad trained, crate trained and good with kids of all ages as well as all sized dogs. Yoda has short legs like a shih tzu and is a sweet calm pup who takes a minute to warm up to new situations. Jar Jar has longer legs and is very active and loves meeting new people. Dougie was a surrender to the rescue. He was at first 5lbs of snarling puppy until he got into his foster family with children and then he blossomed! He is quite the little snuggler and LOVES it when his foster family comes home to play with him. He is an adorable wiggly little guy who will top out around 6-7lbs. Sweet Dallas was surrendered to the rescue by a family who was moving & could no longer keep her. She’s a friendly pup of 31lbs who will grow to be a medium sized (~40lbs) adult. This sweet but scared little guy was found as a stray on 3/3. Attempts to find an owner were unsuccessful and he was placed in foster care where he blossomed into an adorable, cuddly family pet. He is good with other dogs & is doing great w/ learning to walk on a leash. He is housebroken and kennel trained. He is 10lbs of love just waiting for his furever home. Not tested around cats but it is anticipated he would do just fine. Tested around older children and does great. Kirk lives with a foster family who has a pool. Aren’t his fangs adorable! Sweet Mister has been hanging out at a home in Tortosa for the past week or so. They have attempted to find owners with no luck, so we’ve scheduled this very social, litterbox trained kitty for spay. He is very very friendly. Rebel / Rowdy / Roxy – These 3 pups & their mama were found in Maricopa in December. They were very young (about 5 weeks old) at the time, so have been in foster care this whole time while getting stronger & learning their manners. They are now weaned from Mama, (who is also for adoption!) and will have a second set of vaccines this week. They have been wormed & will get spayed/neutered & final vaccines in about 3 weeks. Sweet, loving Squint was taking into rescue with his siblings. They all had respiratory infections but were all very sweet kittens. Once well, Squints continued ongoing eye infection caused the vet to have to remove it. His small disability doesn’t slow him down at all! He is good with other cats. Sweet sweet Cranberry was found by missionaries in Puerto Penansco Mexico. She was being picked on by children and other dogs and with her sweet temperament she would not have survived long on the streets. She was taken into Barb’s Dog Rescue in MX who assisted in her spay surgery and to help get her first set of vaccines / wormer. Cranberry is now being fattened up and fostered by that loving family of missionaries right here in Maricopa. She has had her rabies vaccines & follow up vaccine boosters. She is microchipped. She is ready for a family who will love her and treat her like the beautiful bearded princess that she is. She is wonderful with other dogs, cats & children. She is kennel and doggy door trained and she’s learning how fun it is to play with dog toys.

Sweet Rosa was found as a stray on the golf course in Rancho El Dorado in December. Signs were posted in the neighborhood and info was posted on the Facebook pages for Rancho El Dorado as well other pet related pages. PCACC was also notified and the lost/found pet listings for Maricopa was updated with her found date. Rosa was thin & guarded when found but has turned into a real sweetheart! She is full grown @ 12lbs. She is housebroken and gets along well with other dogs, cats & children. Rosa would be a good fit for a small or large family.
Rosa had a fairly large fatty tumor (could have been a vaccine reaction as well) on the back of her neck but rescue had that removed when she was under anesthesia for her spay. No complications with either part of the surgery. She is now also fully vaccinated & microchipped.

Sweet sweet Sky was found at the Copper Sky Park. Attempts to find her owners were not successful. She was thin, covered in ticks but still sweet & playful. She was taken into rescue after 2 days of being kept by a City employee who was hoping to find her owner. She was placed in foster care where she is thriving. She is tick free, fully vaccinated, microchipped & spayed. She is kennel trained and does really well with the other dogs in her foster home. She’s an ADORABLE little girl who would do well in almost any family setting.

Sweet Tink was found wandering in the Tortosa subdivision in early July. Multiple avenues & attempts to locate an owner were unsuccessful and after 10 days, she was scheduled for spay & vaccines and officially taken into rescue. She is full grown at approx 40lbs. She is a very good girl! She loves to play and learns commands & good manners quickly. She is kennel trained & dog door trained / housebroken. She is good with other dogs but is fed separately and given treats separately since she was very very hungry when found and this leads to her being anxious around food. This has decreased significantly since being in foster care. She loves to fetch and “bring it” back which she also learned very quickly. She is doing well with leash training.

Sweet, mellow Benita was pulled off the streets in Puerto Penansco, MX and approved from transfer from Barb’s Dog Rescue in Rocky Point to Pet Social Worker Rescue in Maricopa. He found the hearts of some missionaries working there are they paid for his safe passage to America. He is WONDERFUL with children. Doing great w/ the dog in his foster home. He is doggy door and kennel trained. He is being treated for tick fever & will be done with his medicine in approx 2 weeks. He is fully vaccinated, neutered & will be microchipped prior to adoption. This guy has been through a lot but still gives love back to humans just as he is hoping to continue the love he found in the missionaries.

Honey was found a a stray under the truck of a Maricopa resident in Homestead. She was VERY skittish & guarded but warmed up after a few days to the family who was feeding her and who eventually contacted rescue when no owner came forward to claim her. She was quite thin & shy when taken in but she is eating well and opened up quite a bit with her foster parents as well as both the cats & dogs in her temporary home. She is even learning to play with toys! She is a gentle little soul who is a tiny little lover. Rescue can provide kennel if needed since she is still potty training.

Sweet little Tuki was pulled out of a shelter when he was placed on the euthanasia list because he was fearful. He was not well socialized and possibly came from an abusive home prior to the shelter. He is a loving little guy when given the chance to warm up and to trust. He has never bitten but because of his history, a home with no children or at least older children is recommended. He is goo with other dogs. He is kennel and doggy door trained. He is looking for a furever home where someone will give him a chance to trust and fall in love with them just like you’ll fall in love with him!

Playful Dale is a super adorable little poofy guy who will be ready for adoption after his neuter & vaccines on 10/28. Wilson was pulled off the euthanasia list at Pinal County Animal Care & Control. He has never been wells socialized with other dogs, so the rescue took a gamble on him that we’d be able to teach him love & how to play.  He is doing GREAT in his foster home setting!  He is playing with all dogs there (big & small) and far less fearful that he will be harmed by them & far more social than what he originally was thought to be able by shelter staff.  A little TLC and training can go a LONG way to save a dogs life!  He is now doing well w/ housebreaking. Good with children (12yr old in foster home) although he can be playful so care around toddlers is imperative. Kennel & doggy door trained. Still nervous on leash around other dogs but that is getting better.  He is ready for a new furever home where he can be loved and cherished like he should have been from his first step into this world.

Chicka was pulled from the euthanasia list @ Pinal County Animal Shelter. We do not know much about her history. From what we have seen, she is extremely people friendly. She loves attention and has shown no signs at all for human aggression. She has not been around children yet that we know of. She would likely do well with children because she is so people friendly, but a meet and greet with children would be best to see how she reacts to them. She does great with the dogs in her foster home right now. As all dogs go, some do not work well with each other so a meet and greet would be the best thing for her to make sure the dogs in her new forever home and her all get along. Chicka would blossom in a home that knows her breed. She is high energy and needs a family who will exercise her regularly. She has been around a cat in her foster home, but she needs to be monitored until she gets more used to them. She has chased the cat a few times, but she is easily called off. She loves chasing toys that are thrown for her. She is learning to bring the ball back after it is thrown. When she came to her foster home from the shelter, she had no idea how to play with other dogs. She thought they were attacking her when they tried to play with her. She had no idea how to relax in a house setting. She would pant, pace, and whine when loose in the house. She is now playing with her foster siblings and becoming more relaxed in a house environment. She loves water and biting at the water from the hose. She takes treats very gently. She will roll over for you to scratch her belly. She is crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night in her own crate. She has not had any accidents in the house at all- fully housebroken since day one of foster care. Chicka was almost euthanized at the shelter because space was limited and she was misunderstood. She needs a forever home that will teach her what it is to be a dog and not have to stress because she has never gotten the chance to be a dog. She needs a family who will love her and understand that she is not perfect but she tries so hard to please.

Sweet sweet Beau was on the euthanasia list at the County shelter. He was found as a stray in another part of Pinal County but was so fearful that the only way to get him to safety was by using a catch pole. His fur was very matted when found and he clearly had been neglected. Rescue was given approval to remove him from the shelter and place him in rescue. He was taken immediately to the groomer who found him to be mild mannered and very easy to groom, as though he’d been groomed in the past. He is neutered, fully vaccinated & microchipped. Sweet Lucie was purchased as a trainable service dog for an autistic child but the other small breed dogs in the home would not allow her to stay. They bullied her and did not provide a conducive environment for training or integration into the family. Rescue took her in & completely vetted & microchipped her. Sweet sweet Midnight was found as a stray. She had no collar, tags of microchip. Attempts to locate here owner were unsuccessful and after 2 weeks she was scheduled for spay, dental and vaccines. Charlie is a bit of an odd duck.  He is older about 7 years old but healthy and with many great years of love to give.  He appears to be a Chihuahua mixed with a heeler – if that’s even likely.  He is about 10 pounds and is “wiry”.  He is neutered.

I don’t know his history – but he comes across as a bit of a nervous dog at first. He tolerates other dogs but doesn’t do much with them – he prefers his human.  He spends a lot of time sleeping on the back of the chair.  He had a significant dental a couple years back with multiple extractions but still can eat crunchy foods.

He is very sweet but is just nervous – you have to be slow in approaching him or he shakes uncontrollably and trills.  He wouldn’t give “kisses” for a long time but has worked up to it.  I have a gut feeling he was abused in a ‘previous life’.  He’s like the typical neurotic Chihuahua – just a little bit bigger.   Once he warms up to you…and he DOES warm up, he’ll be your friend for life!

Chaz is a wonderful dog who had a rough start in life.  He was a stray on the mean streets of Show Low, Arizona until I managed to lure him with …. bacon.  Yep, bacon gets them every time.

Chaz appears to be a cross between a Chihuahua and a pug.  He has pug-like eyes and a magnificent underbite – which leads to quite comical expressions.  He is neutered and approx 5yrs old.  He will need a good dental soon – his teeth are not great.

He is on the ‘chubby’ side and could stand to lose a little weight.  I have worked him down a bit already but has a way to go. I would guess him as around 15-20 pounds. He is neutered.  He is very affectionate and snuggly once he gets to know you.  He can be a little bit nervous around strangers – unless they have treats.  Go figure.  He is good with other dogs.

Sweet Lucy was originally found as a stray in the City of Maricopa.  She was taken off the street by a family that could not keep her. She was then taken by a neighbor who attempted to find the owners with no success. She did not have any tags w/ info and she was microchipped but not registered.  Signs were posted in the neighborhood and Animal Care & Control in Pinal County and Pet Social Worker Rescue were notified she had been found. No luck finding her owners.  She was not very well cared for with some mats, not spayed & a bit thin, but she is still a VERY sweet girl who is housebroken and loves all humans.  She is good with other dogs but gets jealous around other small breed females sometimes.  She was spayed, fully vaccinated, & had a dental cleaning w/ 3 extractions on 11/14. She is ready to go to her furever home!

Cuddly Happy was found as a stray on 10/19 in Maricopa. Signs were posted in the neighborhood & she was scanned for a microchip. No chip & no tags on her collar.  She appeared well fed & social, so rescue waited 4 weeks before placing her up for adoption as well as microchipping & updating all of her vaccines.  Happy loves to play with other dogs, loves children and loves to chase balls, go to the dog park and take walks. She’s also just as happy to sit next to or in someone lap.  She’d make a good dog for almost any family dynamic.  She is doggy door & kennel trained.
