Max was a stray on Honeycutt Ave – attempts to locate his owner were unsuccessful. Max is a beautiful, people loving, energetic love bug. We believe he’s still very young, a year maybe. He would love a family who is active as he loves to play….but he loves to cuddle too. 🙂 He is very smart & the foster family is working well with him on basic commands and to not jump up on new pople he meets. He even knows how to shake already. He absolutely adores the children in his foster home. Max was very fearful of the dogs in his new foster home but he has warmed up to all dogs big & small. He would be ok in a home with another dog around his size, but a proper dog intro will be needed. I do not recommend smaller dogs, because he’s having a hard time realizing his own strength and is very rough and excitable around them.

Sweet Lucie was purchased as a trainable service dog for an autistic child but the other small breed dogs in the home would not allow her to stay. They bullied her and did not provide a conducive environment for training or integration into the family. Rescue took her in & completely vetted & microchipped her. Lucie is a beautiful girl who learns quickly and is good with other children. She does not do well with other dogs at this stage in her life. She is doggy door / kennel trained and she is very sweet & social. Pretty good on a leash & knows her basic commands.

Handsome, very sweet Flash was found stray with another pooch hanging out on the Ak Chin Farms. He had been fed for approx 6-9mos prior to someone bringing him home. Rescue scanned him for a chip & he had one!!!! He had been adopted from the Valley Humane Society in 2015 as a pup. Attempts to find the owner through VHS as well as through the microchip company yielded nothing since the phone #’s were invalid & there was no addl info to find the owners through either connection. Flash had a bit of a cherry eye that was fixed by Dr. Neufeld at the MASH clinic & all of his vaccines were updated. He gets along well with other dogs and would love a family that he can live in furever and always have a full belly! He is housebroken and full of love!
A note from his foster mom: “Flash is a very sweet boy. Flash is very smart, and loves to go on car rides, loves to cuddle, gives kisses, hugs, and gets along with kids. Flash loves to play with his toys, and loves nothing more than to be next to you. He is still a little protective over his food when it comes to other dogs, but he gets along with cats and other dogs when introduced slowly. Gentle 38lb girl who adores people and although shy at first, warms up to other dogs and humans quickly. She is a young girl who is doing well with learning to walk on a leash. Morgan was pulled off the euthanasia list at Pinal County PCACC in Nov 2015. He was in a foster home that didn’t quite understand his shyness or how to handle his utter fear of anything outside of his immediate small kenneled world. He was placed into a different foster home and met w/ a trainer numerous times. He has made slow, steady progress and he will now get excited when his foster family comes home, when his foster mom & her sons shows him affection and for sure he is full of wags & smiles at dinner time! He uses a doggy door and is kennel trained. He is learning to walk well on a leash. If you think you have the heart for this shy boy, consider giving him a try. He is 47lbs of love…he just needs someone to give him a chance. He is good with the small & large breed dogs in his foster home.

Precious has had quite a story. She has been stray a number of times & despite believing they know the owner, the neighbor did not claim her. =( Precious had a very large fatty tumor on her side, was in need of some extensive dental work and needed to be spayed. Despite her poor physical state, she is active, loving and none of that slowed her down. With a targeted campaign to help pay for her medical needs, she had surgery w/ Dr. Cal Cordell and has been given a new-leash-on-life! (pardon the pun!) Sweet little Tenko (from a Japanese myth about a wiley fox!) is a little guy with a LOT of live to give. He is approx. 1 year old and was surrendered from a family who could not have pets in their rental. He was very shy and had some oowies on his head, so his previous care is unknown as far as training / tlc / gentleness. He has BLOSSOMED in his foster home. He is wonderful with other dogs, great with children and is fully housebroken w/ the use of a doggy door / kennel. He is learning to play with toys and how cuddling with humans is so wonderful he now wants to do it ALL THE TIME! This little guy would be a wonderful family member for almost any family dynamic.

Sweet little Charlie can be shy at first but he warms up once he gets to know someone – he is actually a little more cat than dog in that respect! He is good with other dogs once appropriately introduced. He kinda does his own thing and will come to you, but not the other way around. If you come to him, he flops down, rolls over, and is submissive. He hurt his shoulder as a pup when he tried to jump up to the window sill in the bedroom and got caught in the blinds. Poor little man was sore for weeks, and embarrassed that he messed himself, and the wall in the ordeal. He still tends to favor his front left shoulder and his right rear hip. After an extreme bout with Valley Fever (and more than $2k later), he recovered nicely, but still has a small coughing fit from time to time. He is not on any additional ongoing medications. Neutered, fully vaccinated & will be microchipped prior to adoption.

Mia is an 11lb ball of cuddly love! She is an attention hog, and loves her belly rubbed. She gives hugs and kisses. She actually tucks her head under your chin to cuddle you while you hold her. She is prone to eating small items laying about (like chap stick), so we have a small box on the table to hold tiny items. She loves to snuggle in bed at night, and sleeps near the feet under the blanket. If ignored, she will make these low, moaney, almost breathy noises to get your attention….silly girl! She is a potty trained (dog door & kennel) healthy, spayed, fully vaccinated & will be microchipped prior to adoption. She is good on a leash.

These babies have been through hell and back. They are the only two of their litter to survive, and it took everything I had to keep them from leaving us. They had the worst case of kennel cough I’ve ever seen. It turned into pneumonia, and I almost lost them both. They started out living in a backyard with no human interaction. They were extremely afraid of being touched. Now, they are almost over their kennel cough. These two have been together since day one. They are extremely bonded to each other. They play together, sleep cuddled up, won’t eat without each other, won’t go in or out without the other one in toe. Adoption together is not a requirement, but strongly preferred. Kassie is the cream colored sassy pants. Kody is a little more laid back, but loves to get crazy when playing. They will be 4 months old this week. We had to start their shot rounds over because they were too sick to receive their 2nd round when it was due. They will be due for their 2nd round next week. They won’t be ready to go until the 28th. I am so sad to see them go. But it’s almost that time for their forever home(s). No they are not fully potty trained. They’ve spent very little time outside due to being so sick for so long. Sweet Ruby was found as a stray (collar but no tags or microchip) and taken in temporarily in hopes of finding her owner. After 10+ days, no one had claimed her so she came into foster care with out rescue. She is wonderful with children, good with other older dogs (puppies irritate her a bit as their playful energy disrupts her mellowness and napping) and was clearly loved by someone at one time because she is housebroken an knows some basic commands. Max was a stray found in Rancho El Dorado in 2015. He was neutered/vaccinated & chipped by rescue when no one claimed him. He was adopted by a local family who’s female dogs began picking on Max incessantly. Owners refused to get training or work with their other dogs to ensure Max’s safety & he was given back to the rescue. Max was placed in the same foster family who diligently worked with him and who have met successfully with a professional canine trainer. Max believes he is a lap dog despite his size (45lbs) and does wonderfully with both female dogs in his foster home. He is fully housebroken with doggy door / kennel. He has attended group training sessions where he is anxious to be with the other dogs off-leash but where the foster family works with him to learn his basic commands and to not pull on his leash. I’m super sweet and pretty laid back. My fur is lightly ginger on top, but brush me the other direction or look at my belly and I have a lot of cream colored fur. I am strictly an indoor-only kitty.

I’m available for adoption due to a medically necessary re-home from my current family. I’m neutered, Feline Leukemia/ FIV negative, and current on my FIV vaccine (doesn’t expire until December 2017) and current on my FVRCP and Rabies vaccines (good until December 2019.) Jack was found as a stray in a rural part of Maricopa, AZ. Attempts to locate an owner were unsuccessful and after several weeks he was officially taken into rescue and fully vetted. He is a young social boy who does well with other dogs but not a big fan of cats. He loves to chase balls and shake his toys. He was pretty thin & scared when he was found in the desert, so he does guard his food but he eats separate from other dogs in foster care, so that is not an issue at all. Rescue recommends not giving him bones or food around other dogs only because he was so thin but he is even losing the need to guard his food the longer he is in foster care and having regular meals. He is pretty energetic, so care must be taken around small children but he does great with the older kids and the children in his foster home. He is kennel trained and doing great with housebreaking. He is playful but loves to cuddle and have his belly rubbed too. Jack is super smart and is learning basic commands at lightning speed.

Sweet little Gypsy was found wandering in the desert with another dog. They were taken into rescue, cleaned up, fattened up & vetted. Sweet sweet Sky was originally found at the Copper Sky Park and adopted but she is terrified of children, so was returned so we could find an adult only home for her. These sweet babies were taken in by a local who had been feeding their very scared mama near Ultrastar. (with the kind help of the Ak Chin Animal Care & Conrol Officer.) Lady’s story from the shelter staff. She was pulled out of Pinal County Animal Care & Control because she was no longer evidence in an animal neglect case. PCACC responded on an emergent basis to Lady’s home on 3/3/2016 where she was found emaciated and although in good spirits, she was clearly not being cared for properly. She was taken directly to the vets office where it was found she could possibly have an auto immune disease keeping her thin but while at the shelter, she was fed 4 smaller meals/day and immediately started to put on weight. No medications or additional treatment required. At that time she was only 25lbs. She stayed at the shelter for 60 days where she did wonderful with the staff, other dogs and even cats – which she did chase but did not act aggressive toward. Rescue / Foster family has kept here at 3-4 small meals/day for the last two weeks and she is continuing to keep weight on. She is kennel trained. She has been around small children in her previous home but not since that time. Rescue feels she would do best as an only dog or in a home with larger dogs and with a family that has time to feed her multiple times/day. She thinks she’s a lap dog and would happily crawl her now 60lb frame into your lap for some TLC.

Sweet Wilson is from a litter of 5 pups that were found together with their mom in the Saddleback Farms area of Maricopa. They were well socialized & sweet but the owner let them roam and children were shooting them with bb guns when they were at the bus stop. A neighbor took all of them into foster care & the rescue agreed to assist in fully vetting, microchipping & placing them up for adoption. Wilson is a typical pup. He loves to play and he loves to nap. He is doing well with potty training with the use of a kennel. He’s a handsome boy looking for a home where he can get the playtime & TLC he deserves.

Sweet Amber was taken into foster care when her owner wrote on Facebook that he planned to do her harm if someone didn’t come take her away immediately. A foster family stepped up and agreed to work on training her basic commands and provide her with shelter. It was found she is VERY sweet, good with other dogs, mellow and wonderful with children. She learned “sit” within an hour and is housebroken with kennel/dog door training. She’s an ANGEL!
