Kona is a very sweet 4 year old Rottie who has transformed into a playful, energetic girl. She was neglected for several years where she was overweight, unkempt, and most likely lived outside. Her muscles had atrophied and she had some back leg issues. Since September, she has lost 20lbs (weighing a healthy 81lbs now), has been spayed, a fatty tumor was removed from her underside, her fur is shiny and healthy, and she is regaining her strength. Kona is very praise and food motivated. She tends to bond well to and loves to cuddle, letting you know when she wants more attention. With her successful weight loss, she has been gaining energy and has started to act like a puppy as far as playfulness. She is a big baby and just wants love, cuddles, and good food.

Kona is still learning manners and commands but knows the following: sit, stay, out, ok (release), crate, and come. Walking on a leash is still new to her but she is quickly learning. She has received x-rays on her rear legs due to some walking issues, which revealed moderate arthritis in her left knee.

Kona has some personal space issues with new people (mainly getting too close to her face or stomach) and may let off a growl but will eventually be very trusting. She is good with other dogs, though she can be pretty nosey and isn’t aware of her size. She has been in a few scraps with other dogs, none or which were started by her but she may be wary around larger dogs. She has been untested with children.

Kona is spayed & vaccinated.  She will be microchipped prior to adoption.
